Free Taree workshop to help young farmers get bank ready

1 Aug 2017

Young farmers and those aspiring to get into the business of agriculture are encouraged to register for the ‘Getting Started – Bank Ready’ workshop to be held at Taree on 17 August, co-hosted by the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) Young Farmer Business Program and Dairy NSW.

NSW DPI Snr Project Officer Business & Social Resilience Programs, Pip Job said the free workshop is designed to inform young farmers and fishers how to be prepared when accessing finance to enter or expand an agricultural or fisheries business.

“It can be difficult for young people to navigate the many business barriers, so young farmers are encouraged to attend the workshop to gain valuable insights to better understand banks and what they require,” Ms Job said.

“These skills will help them to be better prepared when they approach a bank seeking finance to commence or expand an agricultural or fisheries business.”

A guest speaker from a local agribusiness lender will discuss banking terms and language, how to make better financial decisions and how to develop a positive relationship with your financial lender.

The venue is Club Taree, 121 Wingham Road, from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm with finger food provided.

The workshop is free, but places are limited so participants must register before the event https://www.123tix.com.au/events/883/getting-started-bank-ready-workshop-taree  or by phoning Sam Nicholson 0427 666 709 or email young.farmer@dpi.nsw.gov.au

The Young Farmer Business Project is a joint initiative between the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) and NSW Farmers Association aimed to increase the number of young people in the agriculture sector across NSW.
