Orange abuzz with industry networking event

5 Oct 2017

Orange is set to host the only Farm Writers’ Association of NSW regional event of 2017 tonight, with close to 100 people expected to attend from Sydney and the local region.

The sold-out ‘Agribuzz’ event has been brought to the region thanks to the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) and will welcome MSM Milling Director Bob Mac Smith as guest speaker.

DPI Director General Mr Scott Hansen said supporting regional events such as Agribuzz is important as it allows for productive, state-wide partnerships to be strengthened in a local setting.

“Building networks is especially important for young professionals in agriculture, so as part of DPI’s commitment to increase collaboration and support new talent, we’re proud to bring this Farm Writers’ event to Orange,” he said.

Farm Writers’ President Mr Ben Craw said Agribuzz has become a popular fixture in Sydney’s agribusiness calendar, providing an opportunity for aspirant leaders to mix with current leaders and influencers and learn from the experiences of those who have achieved exceptional success.

“Bringing Agribuzz to Orange is one way Farm Writers’ achieves its aims of fostering communication between rural and urban communities and promoting the interests of rural Australia and the NSW farm sector,” he said.

“We’re very thankful to have the support from DPI to be able to host Agribuzz in Orange.”

The Farm Writers’ Association of NSW Agribuzz event is on this Thursday, 5 October, and is proudly sponsored by the NSW Department of Primary Industries.

The next event on the Farm Writers’ calendar is the October lunch seminar in Sydney, which will be addressed by the President of the National Farmers’ Federation, Fiona Simson. The event will be followed by the annual Christmas lunch in December, where DPI will announce the NSW Farmer of the Year award.
