  • Management of climate risks including efficiencies in agricultural production systems
  • Climate change adaptation

Background

Dr Muhuddin Anwar (also known as Anwar) has over 20 years’ experience specializing in assessing Agricultural Production, Nutrient Management, Climatic Risk and Environmental Sustainability, Agricultural Systems Simulation and Climate Change. Anwar is an agricultural systems modeller in the Climate Impact and Adaptation team. In 1987, he started as an Agricultural Extension Officer (World Bank project) and since then has undertaken several client services roles including research in developing and developed countries like India, New Zealand, Japan, and now in Australia.

Anwar is currently involved in quantification of farmer’s management options, agricultural systems simulation and climate change adaptation for NSW.

Qualifications

  • BSc Haryana Agricultural University
  • MSc Horticulture DYSP University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan India
  • PhD Lincoln University
  • Post-doctorate (JSPS), National Agricultural Research Centre, Tsukuba Japan

Current projects

  • Comprehensive Assessment of Climate Change impacts on agricultural sectors across (NSW DPI and OEH)
  • Climate impact and biophysical simulation of various farming rotations in ACIAR project--Market-focused integrated crop and livestock enterprises for NW Cambodia.
  • Model (APSIM, AusFarm) parameterization and validation of mixed crop-livestock systems (compare experimental data and simulation) and extend simulation to new regions for climate change adaptation of mixed crop-livestock systems.
