HOSSAIN, Mustafa Kamal

Research interest

  • Biochar for soil health management
  • Impact of organic matter on soil fertility and productivity
  • Soil nutrients movement and use of urban waste in agriculture
  • Farming system research
  • Biochar production and pyrolysis

Background

Kamal is working as a technical officer for DPI, based at Menangle. He is experienced in carrying out a variety of soil and plant analysis using a range of analytical methods and equipment. His responsibilities include designing and setting up experiment in the field, greenhouse and laboratory environment, monitoring experiments, collection of data, sample preparation and analysis. He has previous experience working with a range of DPI projects on soil nutrient management, greenhouse gas emission, nitrogen volatilisation, soil carbon and fertility trials. Prior to his employment with DPI, he carried out his research PhD through Macquarie University, investigating the impact of biochar on soil properties and crop yield.
