Copyright of all images, which includes illustrations, graphs and other graphic material, created by staff of Trade and Investment in the performance of their duties, is retained by the State of New South Wales through the department.

In general, permission to use such material is granted free of charge to educational and non-profit organisations, but only on application to the Image Library Administrator.

Commercial and other profit-making organisations may purchase single-use licences on application to the Image Library Administrator.

Staff may not supply image materials to a non-departmental individual or external organisation without discussion with the Image Library Administrator.

Attribution

Material thus used must be properly attributed, firstly to the creator of the work, and secondly to the copyright holder, Department of Trade and Investment, Regional Infrastructure and Services.

The creator of the image should be acknowledged with their name in small type (6–8 pt) run up the right-hand edge from the bottom corner of the image in question, or in a similar manner acceptable to the user.

Illustrations signed by the creator must not have the signature erased or defaced in any way.

Copyright of the material can be acknowledged by the addition of the statement '© State of NSW through Department of Trade and Investment, Regional Infrastructure and Services (year)' in the caption, as a footer or in a prominent position with other acknowledgments at the end of the chapter or publication.

Fees

In general, a fee for single use of each illustration, photograph or other graphic work will be made; fees will vary from time to time, and some images may attract a premium fee.

At the time of writing (september 2010), the general fee amounts to AUD $150.00 for each image. Bulk purchases may attract a discount, this being at the discretion of the Administrator.
