Proposals for a regulatory framework for greenhouse gas injection and storage - Position Paper & Public Consultation Outcomes
The NSW Government is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. A particular source of such emissions in NSW is the burning of coal to produce electricity.
One means of achieving reductions in the emission of greenhouse gases is through injecting and storing them deep underground.
In line with its policy of reducing emissions, the Government prepared a Position Paper on a proposal to regulate the injection and underground storage of greenhouse gas emissions. The Position Paper sets out the Government's preferred approach to achieving this. The Position Paper (see below) was released for public consultation between 18 August and 15 September 2010.
The Public Consultation Outcomes document is also available for download.
