Hemp Industry Regulation 2008
The Hemp Industry Regulation 2008 was gazetted on 31 October 2008.
The Regulation was made under the Hemp Industry Act 2008. The Act authorises and regulates the cultivation and supply of low-THC hemp for commercial production and other legitimate uses. It establishes a licensing scheme for the cultivation and supply of low-THC hemp.
The Regulation makes provision for matters including:
- the necessary contents of licence applications, and applications for renewal and transfer of licences
- additional grounds for refusal and revocation of licences
- licence conditions
- record-keeping and annual reporting requirements
- licence fees
- penalty notice offences.
The draft Regulation and Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) were released for public consultation on 22 August 2008. The public consultation period closed on 19 September 2008.
