Stock Diseases Regulation 2009
The Stock Diseases Regulation 2009 commenced on 1 September 2009 after online notification on 28 August 2009.
The Regulation was made under the Stock Diseases Act 1923. The objective of the Act is the control and eradication of certain diseases in stock and the prevention of the spread of diseases to other stock.
The Regulation gives effect to the Act by providing for the testing of stock for certain diseases, notification of those diseases, vaccination against them, and restriction of the movement of tested or vaccinated stock. It further provides for a scheme for the identification and tracing of stock, and for permits.
The draft Regulation and Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) were released for public consultation on 18 May 2009. The public consultation period closed on 13 July 2009.
