Fodder donations welcomed on Hotline
People donating fodder to assist farmers affected by recent bushfires are reminded to call the fodder donation line on
1800 814 647 to donate.
“We welcome the support and offers of grain, fodder and agistment that have already been made,” NSW DPI State Emergency Coordinator Simon Oliver said.
“Calling the donation line first to arrange for delivery helps us efficiently plan and coordinate the deliveries.
“Many of the larger fires are still burning and access to some areas remains restricted, so the demand for donated fodder will be ongoing for some time.
“Some landholders will require assistance for many weeks to come, hence the need to strategically manage the distribution of the fodder.
“If we can link up deliveries with requests it often means the transporter can go direct to the affected stock and save on travel time and double handling.
“Fire-affected landholders requiring fodder should also call the hotline.”
Mr Oliver said the NSW Government and NSW Farmers had teamed up to establish the fodder donation registry.
The fires have caused widespread damage to stock, infrastructure and pastures, leaving many farmers without a blade of grass for sheep and cattle.
You can get behind our farmers and help them get back on their feet by donating muchneeded grain and fodder.
To register fodder donations, please call 1800 814 647 or visit www.dpi.nsw.gov.au to view the registry.
