Interview with carbon researcher online

From the Spring/Summer 2009 edition of Bush Telegraph Magazine.

Fabiano Ximenes features in a new online interview at www.landlearnnsw.org.au

Its well known that growing trees absorb carbon dioxide  from the atmosphere through photosynthesis and store the carbon. Even more  amazing is the fact that about half the dry weight of a tree or wood product is  carbon, with one tonne of carbon representing 3.67 tonnes of carbon dioxide.

But  did you know a high proportion of the carbon in solid forest products remains  stored in the product (in service and in landfills) for a period of at least 50  years - much longer than previously thought.

Join  researcher Fabiano Ximenes as he talks about wood, carbon and climate change in  our latest video for schools.
