The versatility and beauty of timber products was on show at the 2009 Timber and Working with Wood Show held in Sydney from 19-21 June.
The event attracted over 12 000 people and featured displays and exhibitions from timber companies and local woodworking associations.
Forests NSW was again the proud sponsor of the Putting Timbers on Show in NSW woodworking competition, which featured a record 127 entries.
Forests NSW Director Human Resources, Della Farthing, presented the awards to the proud winners.
All the entries demonstrated fantastic workmanship. The competition showed the high-end products which can be made from NSW timber and just how timber lends itself to both beauty and function.
Sustainably grown local timber really shone at this show. The products spoke for themselves and I am sure many who visited the show learnt volumes about the benefits of sustainably grown timber in todays society, said Della.
Forests NSW stand emphasised the carbon storage capacity of forests and timber products and challenged visitors to learn more about the uses of local timber species through the tree to timber to product guessing competition.
