Getting the most from farm dams
Free dam water storage management workshops are on offer to farmers at the Orange Agricultural Institute, Forest Road, Tuesday, June 16 from 11am until 3pm and the Young Services Club Wednesday, June 17 from 9am until 1pm.
Local growers and graziers can telephone NSW Department of Primary Industries irrigation officer, Mike Robbins, 6391 3970 to register for the Orange workshop, and NSW DPI horticulturist, Sean Brindle, 6380 1701 to register for the Young workshop.
The Cooperative Research Centre for Irrigation Futures workshop will explore ways to measure and minimise water-loss from dams.
Case studies detailing the economics of reducing evaporation in the local area and demonstrations of an evaporation ‘ready reckoner’ will feature and lunch will be provided.
