Narrabri seminar highlights new advances in herbicide use
A seminar to be held at Narrabri on Wednesday 16 September by The Weed Society of NSW will highlight new advances in herbicide use.
Weed Society of NSW president, Rex Stanton, said the seminar was expected to attract a wide range of people including farmers, agricultural consultants, weed officers and agricultural companies.
He said current recommendations for herbicide use in a number of crops and noxious weeds would be explained and there would be an opportunity for people to ask questions.
"Weeds are estimated to cost Australia in excess of $4 billion a year in agricultural systems alone, so it is paramount that people are up to date on the advances in herbicide use," Dr Stanton said.
He said prominent speakers had been invited to address recent developments on spray drift risk management, herbicide resistance, herbicide mode of action and the pesticide act regulations.
In particular, Adrian Harris (CropLife Australia) will provide an update on herbicide mode of action and resistance, and David Thompson (Department of Environment and Climate Change) will address issues with Pesticide Act Regulations.
The seminar will be held at the Narrabri Bowling Club, 176 Maitland Street from 9.45am - 4pm. Registration costs $80 (non member) and $50 (members) and includes morning and afternoon tea and lunch.
For catering purposes, it would be good if participants could RSVP to the organisers by Friday 11 September.
