Berry to host workshop on managing land for carbon

The NSW Department of Primary Industries will hold a Managing Land for Carbon PROfarm short course at Berry Bowling Club on 15 February. 

Organiser, Maryke Archbold-Hession, said a one day Managing Land for Carbon workshop is being held at Berry to assist local land managers learn practical skills and techniques to reduce impacts of climatic extremes.

“During the course, areas on participant’s properties will be identified where, with the right management, soil carbon is likely to be built up,” she said.

“Areas more suited for storing carbon in forests will also be identified.

“Carbon credits and the Carbon Farming Initiative are examined in detail, including a cost-benefit analysis for each farm.

“Managing Land for Carbon is a FarmReady approved course, entitling eligible participants to claim a reimbursement of 65% of the course cost and reasonable expenses through the Australian Government’s FarmReady program.

“The $520 course cost includes lunch and refreshments.”
