Forests NSW advises community of harvesting in Blowering Dam area
Forests NSW is advising the public of forest harvesting operations, which are due to commence in the Blowering Dam area after the Labour Day long weekend (October 5).
Forests NSW tactical planning forester, Mark Stretch, said it is important that the local community are aware of upcoming restrictions to traffic.
"Public access to the western side of Blowering Dam through Bago State Forest will be limited to a one-way traffic flow along two sections of road," Mr Stretch said.
"These restrictions involve all vehicles, both public and log trucks, travelling downhill on McDonalds Road and Sturgess Road to access the Blowering foreshore, and uphill on Yellowin Access Road."
The restrictions are expected to be in place for about six months.
"The Blowering Dam area is used extensively by the public in the summertime for recreational pursuits including camping, water sports and fishing, and it is crucial that visitors to that area take notice of the traffic restrictions for safety reasons," Mr Stretch said.
"It is essential that all people using the road network conform to the one-way rules. Having all vehicles travelling in the same direction will avoid traffic meeting head-on along narrow sections of the road with tight corners."
A sign will be placed at both entrances to the area with a diagram showing the one-way road details. One Way / No Entry signs will also be erected to make sure all road users are aware of the one-way traffic restrictions.
Vehicles travelling between Batlow and Talbingo along Yellowin Access Road will be detoured via Snubba, McDonalds, Sturgess and Blowering Camp roads, to avoid oncoming log trucks.
