Westport Park Draft Plan open for public comment
Crown Lands General Manager, Graham Harding, said today the draft Plan of Management for Westport Park was now on public exhibition.
“The draft plan is now available for the community to see and I urge interested people to provide feedback and comment,” Mr Harding said.
“The draft plan has been developed in partnership with Port Macquarie-Hastings Council and the Foreshore Lands Advisory Group (FLAG), and identifies key community objectives for the future management of Westport Park as open space.”
Mr Harding said the NSW government had dedicated Westport Park for public recreation to ensure it has the highest form of protection to remain in public ownership.
“Local community groups campaigned tirelessly to have the area remain in public hands.”
“The draft Plan provides the community with the opportunity to shape the long-term use of the park for exiting and future generations,” said Mr Harding.
The community has six weeks until Friday 9 March 2012 to provide feedback in writing or by email.
The draft plan can be found on the Crown Lands web site at – www.crownland.nsw.gov.au
Copies are also on display at the council offices on the corner of Lord and Burrawan Streets, Port Macquarie, or at the Crown Lands office at 98 Victoria Street, Taree.
