Sunflower is a versatile summer-growing oilseed crop with good market opportunities. It is suited to most dryland and irrigated farming systems. In NSW it is mainly grown as a dryland crop in the summer-dominant rainfall cropping areas of the northern slopes. Smaller areas are grown under irrigation on the Western Plains and in the Riverina.

This book contains detailed practical information on:

  • growing sunflowers in Australia;
  • best management practices for rain-grown and irrigated cropping;
  • major coverage of insect pests and damage caused by insects;
  • markets and uses, soil and climatic needs, planting, nutrition and harvesting;
  • control of weeds, diseases and insects.

The book is ideal for farmers, students and industry.
