Weeds have been identified as a major cause of establishment failure of tea tree plantations, as tea tree seedlings are extremely sensitive to weed competition. Therefore, good weed control is important until the tea tree canopies merge and shade out the weeds.

This booklet explains how weed management should be a combination of strategies to minimise the impact of weeds on tea tree production and on the quality of the end-product.
