Vegetable oils extracted from fruit or oil seeds are important crops for internal and export use. NSW DPI laboratories conduct testing for oil quality and adulteration on all vegetable oils: these can include canola, safflower, sunflower, olives, kenaf, avocado, and others.

Available tests

Vegetable oil testing is carried out at Wagga Wagga Agricultural Institute. The following tests are available:

Wet Chemistry Tests

  • Moisture
  • Oil Content by FOSFA – NATA Accredited Method
  • Glucosinolates
  • Chlorophyll
  • Sinapine
  • Free Fatty Acids
  • Fatty Acid Profile
  • Test Weight (500g seed minimum)

Rapid NIR Analysis

  • Moisture
  • Oil Content
  • Protein
  • Glucosinolates
  • Chlorophyll
  • Sinapine
