Murray Valley Citrus Board
The Murray Valley Citrus Board was formerly established by the Murray Valley Citrus Marketing Acts 1989 of Victoria and New South Wales. These Acts were repealed on 20 June 2004, and the Board was reconstituted in Victoria under the Agricultural Industry Development Act 1990, with extra-territorial authority over citrus growers in the NSW Murray Valley.
The functions of the Board are to:
- promote the domestic and export marketing of citrus fruit;
- make arrangements for the marketing and processing of citrus fruit and citrus products;
- develop and provide marketing services;
- promote the sale and consumption of citrus fruit and citrus products;
- develop and assist in the development of improved methods of producing, handling, marketing and processing citrus fruit and citrus products;
- develop and maintain minimum quality standards for citrus fruit; and
- investigate, report on, and make recommendations to producers, the citrus industry and the Ministers in NSW and Victoria, on issues relating to the marketing of citrus fruit and citrus products.
