Have I enough water to finish my rice crop?
Primefact Number: 406 Edition: First edition Released/reviewed: 01 Nov 2006
Rice crop water use is determined by:
- the amount of water stored in the soil profile or already ponded on bays;
- evapo-transpiration demand as affected by weather conditions (wind, humidity, rainfall, temperature, solar radiation);
- the duration of crop growth as affected by variety and crop growth stage;
- soil type and permeability.
This Primefact shows you how to calculate your rice crop water needs, including the duration of the crop growing season and estimated rice crop water use.
