Hand feeding cattle in drought - grain/hay

primefact cover
Primefact Number: 276    Edition: First edition    Released/reviewed: 01 Nov 2006

As drought conditions worsen it may become necessary to meet your stock's daily feed requirements by hand feeding grain, hay, or a combination of both.

This Primefact provides a table of feed quantities that should be applied to full hand feeding when there is insufficient paddock roughage available (less than 500 kg dry matter per hectare). They are not supplements but full feed requirements to maintain liveweight.
