Planning for drought

We all know there will be another drought. It will be managed best if you have a well-considered plan. This level of planning concentrates on setting broad strategies for the next drought, the finer details, such as least-cost feeding rations, will need to be worked out using current prices at the time. This publication provides six steps to follow when making your drought plan:

  • identifying enterprise risk;
  • analysing climate records;
  • identifying what to monitor and selecting trigger points;
  • developing an action plan to follow triggers;
  • financial analysis;
  • reviewing the plan.
