Artificial wetland module
This calculator forms part of the Wetland Web Calculators series.
The artificial wetland is a gravel or sand filled module planted with emergent water plants. It slows down the flow of water and provides an effective ‘polish’ of water, removing nutrients and sediments. A retention period of at least five days should be used.
Results
The following suggested dimensions are based on a daily volume of --- litres, length of stay --- days, length to width ratio ---, a gravel depth of --- metres and an available water space of ---%.
Write down the calculated dimensions for this artificial wetland module, including the surface area, then go back and select the next type of module you plan to include in your wetland system.
