This 19th Edition of the Orchard Plant Protection Guide for Deciduous Fruits in NSW is the latest in a series of similar publications which have served industry for 49 years. It provides up-to-date information on all aspects of protecting your orchard from pests and diseases.
What's new?
Dr Andrew Landers from Cornell University, USA, writes this year’s feature article. The article reports on spray drift in the orchard and the waste in chemicals and money this problem is causing. Further to this is the ever present environmental issues of sprays landing on non-target sites.
In February 2008, CropLife Australia completed a review of the Australian Herbicide Mode of Action grouping system and added six new groups. In October 2008, CropLife Australia completed a review of the Australian Fungicide Activity Groups classification system.
Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority is currently reviewing the chemical carbendazim, evaluating data suggesting carbendazim can cause birth defects in experimental animals, similar to those defects caused by Benomyl.
