Origin: A seedling by M. Legrand, Yvetot, France.
Tree form: Medium, upright tree that is slightly scab-susceptible.
Pollination requirements: Mid–late season bloom, good self-fertility; good pollinator with Dabinett, Stoke Red and Breakwell’s Seedling.
Fruit shape: Medium, often produces small fruit; conical, sometimes pointed. May be confused with Brown Snout but is more angular and elongated.
Colour and
flesh:
Smooth, slightly waxy skin; yellowish-green, only slight blush; stem basin russet.
Flesh white, slightly woolly, a little astringent.
Harvest period: Mid-season harvest, good crop, slight tendency to biennial bearing; more than 3 weeks storage.
Uses: Bittersweet; produces a medium cider.
