Somerset Redstreak

 

Origin: From Sutton Montis, Somerset, England.
Tree form: Vigorous, fairly upright tree.
Pollination requirements: Mid-season bloom; pollinated with Brown’s Apple, Kingston Black, Dabinett and Michelin.
Fruit shape: Medium, flat, conical fruit with a short stalk; partly open eye in a small shallow basin.
Colour and
flesh:
Tough skin; an attractive bright red with a stripe, and slight russet.
Flesh greeny white, rubbery, woolly, sweet, juicy, astringent.
Harvest period: Mid to late harvest; very good yield.
Uses: Bittersweet; producing a mild or medium cider.
