Primefact Number: 317    Edition: First edition    Released/reviewed: 01 Jan 2007

During drought, livestock producers may consider feeding materials not normally used as stockfeed. Frost-damaged sugar cane and cane tops are examples of these products. If you are considering using sugar cane products as a stockfeed, take precautions to ensure that this use does not result in your livestock developing unacceptable chemical residues.

This Primefact discusses:

  • minimising the risks
  • vendor declaration
  • residue risks
  • residue testing.
