BJD zoning in NSW was introduced as a means of limiting the spread of bovine Johne’s disease (BJD).

Currently the Control Zones (higher prevalence areas) in NSW form part of the North Coast, South East and Riverina Livestock Health and Pest Authorities (LHPAs).

The rest of NSW is a Protected Zone. NSW is moving toward risk-based trading to manage BJD.

The long-term aim in NSW is to remove zoning controls, and leave producers to make their own risk assessments about introducing BJD.

This Primefact covers the following topics:

  • Movements from dairy holdings
  • Movements from beef properties
  • Movement restrictions
  • Exemptions from movement restrictions
