Tick Fever Inquiry Report

Minister Ian Macdonald appointed Mr Garry West, former Minister and Member for Orange, to undertake an independent inquiry to address tick fever concerns. The Terms of Reference for the Inquiry were:

  1. Potential use of cattle tick fever vaccine.
  2. Introduction of Queensland cattle into NSW.
  3. Use of electronic surveillance to enhance existing border control.
  4. Advisory mechanisms into State Government.

Mr West conducted meetings with interested producers and groups of producers on the North Coast of NSW in late May and early June 2005. He also received written submissions to the Inquiry.

The report makes recommendations on each of the terms of reference and is now available for download via the link below.
