Adherance to these guidelines was very important during the 2007/08 Equine Influenza (EI) outbreak.

These guidelines will remain here as examples of thorough biosecurity practices until replacement guidelines are written.

Movement of horse products stuck to vehicles or floats such as urine, faeces, saliva, blood and especially snot and mucus may spread equine influenza.

These guidelines are for people responsible for vehicles and floats on horse properties. They provide information about:

  • when you must disinfect your vehicle and float, and
  • step-by-step guidelines for disinfecting vehicles and floats to help you comply with the legal requirements for disinfection
