NLIS Cattle: guidelines for NSW abattoirs

NLIS cattle guidelines

This publication provides guidelines to abattoir operators about complying with the requirements for the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS) whenever cattle are slaughtered at abattoirs in NSW.

These requirements are prescribed under the Stock Diseases Regulation 2009 (the Regulation).

In summary:

  • All cattle and calves must be identified with an NLIS device before they are slaughtered
  • All cattle must be accompanied by a completed NVD or TSS
  • Kill data must be uploaded to the NLIS database by the close of business next day.
