Moving sheep away from flood risk

Factsheet cover image
Factsheet Number: 1157    Edition: First edition    Released/reviewed: 20 Feb 2011

Sheep need to be moved away from flood risk early as mustering to higher ground during dry conditions is much easier on you and the sheep.

Sheep may not have had access to good water and feed for some time prior to travel. When they arrive at the safe location care is needed to provide them with clean fresh water and encourage them to drink. Provide good quality feed, they may also need health treatments to ensure survival.
