Fat score of ewes at joining: the benefits of optimal nutrition

primefact cover
Primefact Number: 151    Edition: Second edition    Released/reviewed: 01 Feb 2007

Monitoring breeding ewes at critical stages of their reproductive cycle is essential so that producers can provide adequate nutrition and optimise reproductive performance. Conception rate increases with increasing fat score due to relationships between fat score, bodyweight and ovulation rate.

This Primefact provides information on fat score targets for breeding ewes at joining and how conception rates could improve if these targets are reached.
