Cowpea

Name: Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata).
Description:

Fast growing, annual legume suitable for grazing or crop rotations. Has much smaller seed than Lablab (15,000 compared to 4,000 seeds/kg) and so can be sown about 10 kg/ha. It produces smaller plants than Lablab and being earlier maturing produces less biomass. Poona and Caloona are the main cultivars available. Cowpeas are drought and heat tolerant and can be sown once your soil temperature reaches 18oC for 3 days.
