Rhus

Toxicodendron succedaneum

Rhus is also know as Wax tree. Its botannical name was previously Rhus succedanea. It is a dangerous, allergy-causing tree that has become a weed in the Sydney region. It causes severe dermatitis beginning with a rash, redness, itching and blisters where the skin has touched the plant. The rash is often accompanied by localised swelling of the face, arms and legs. The sap causes the worst reaction. However, contact with any part of the tree can result in the development of some symptoms.
