Primefact Number: 253 Edition: First edition Released/reviewed:
In New South Wales (NSW), the term ‘noxious weed’ is used to describe plants that have been declared as noxious weeds under the Noxious Weeds Act 1993 (the Act).
As of 1 March 2006 five new noxious weed control classes apply under the Act. Each control class of noxious weed requires a different level of control.
For more information on the Act and control classes see NSW DPI Primefact 252 Noxious weed declarations www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/agriculture/pests-weeds/weeds/legislation

- for land within the Western Division that is not within a local government area, the Western Lands Commissioner; and
- for land within Lord Howe Island, the Lord Howe Island Board.
