NSW Weed Risk Management system
The NSW Weed Risk Management (WRM) system has been developed by NSW DPI and collaboratively with various stakeholders including those represented on the Noxious Weeds Advisory Committee.
The system uses a series of questions to arrive at a score for weed risk (invasiveness, impacts, potential distribution) and feasibility of coordinated control (control costs, persistence, current distribution). Once scores are determined, a table comparing the scores directs the assessor to what management actions may be needed for the weed.
The NSW WRM system will be used in parallel with the current NSW Noxious Weed Declaration system for the next 18 months. After this time the NSW WRM system will be the sole system used to evaluate declaration requests and changes.
