Name: Biological control of weeds
Description: This workshop is designed for land managers and natural resource officers who are involved in the control of weeds.
Cost: $310 GST free
Course aims: To train participants to develop skills in biological control of weeds in Australia. This workshop will provide an introduction of biological control methods used in Australia. It will concentrate on theory and practice behind maintaining and releasing biological control agents for weed management.
Learning outcomes:
  • Understanding the history of biological control in Australia.
  • How to assess the suitability of biological control for a particular site
  • Establishing a maintenance and monitoring program for a biological control site
  • How to release biological control agents for weed management
Length: 1 day

  • History of biological control in Australia.
  • Assessing suitability of biological control for a particular site.
  • Maintaining and monitoring your biological control site.
  • Releasing biological control agents for weed management.
  • Field trip to established biological control
Resources and method of delivery: Participants are provided with course notes.

This course is delivered using indoor and outdoor instruction.
