Course details

Name: Introduction to property planning
Description: A course for landholders on the basic principles, practices and benefits of property management planning.
Cost:

After NSW Government subsidy, $150 GST-free.

Course aims:
  • Show participants a working farm plan and how it can be used to help set goals and actions that result in better outcomes for the farm
  • Take participants through a process of identifying the components of a farm plan, computer assisted programs and aerial photographs
  • Examine the map overlays used for describing and interpreting farm infrastructure and resources.
Learning outcomes:
  • Assess the benefits of having a farm plan to develop the farm business
  • Describe the physical environment of the farm 
  • Assess the condition and health of the farm's natural resources
Length: 1 day
Course program/structure:
  • Tour a working farm 
  • See how a farm plan is developed and implemented
  • Importance of setting goals and farm planning tools 
  • An introduction of the layers that make up a farm plan
  • How to approach the planning process 
Resources and method of delivery:

Participants receive the publication Put Yourself in the Picture, caring for your small rural property.

This course is delivered using indoor and outdoor instruction.

Accreditation: This course is mapped to the national unit of competency RTC3218A - Undertake a site assessment.
