Name: Native plant and weed look-alikes
Description: A course for those who want to learn how to recognise and distinguish between common native plants and environmental weeds of coastal NSW. A jargon-free practical course for landcarers, landholders and others involved with the natural environment.
Cost: After NSW Government subsidy, $200 GST-free.
Includes a copy of the book Native Plant or Weed?
Course aims: To develop the skills of participants to recognise and distinguish between some common native plants and environmental weeds of coastal NSW.
Learning outcomes:
  • Recognise the basic features of a plant
  • Identify common terms for describing plants
  • Distinguish between a range of coastal native plants and weeds that look alike
Length: 5 hours

  • Basic features of a plant
  • Terms for describing plants
  • Recognising differences between native plants and weed look-alikes using plant specimens 
Resources and method of delivery:

Participants receive the colour publication Native plant or weed? Pick the difference.

This course is mainly delivered indoors.

Accreditation: This course is mapped to the national unit of competency RTC2016A - Recognise plants.
