Name: Alpaca care and management
Description: This course is designed for property owners interested in breeding alpacas.
Cost: After NSW Government subsidy, $250 GST-free.
Course aim:

This course aims to assist participants to develop their skill in the basic care and handling of Alpacas.

Learning outcomes: At completion of this course participants will be able to;
  • Describe basic Alpaca husbandry practises
  • Identify safe handling practices and behavioural characteristics of Alpacas
  • Identify basic nutritional requirements
  • Describe breeding and disease management principles
Length: One day

  • Handling and husbandry
  • Nutrition and disease management
  • Assessment and breeding
  • Paddock design and shelter
Resources and method of delivery:

This course is delivered indoors and outdoors.
Participant will be provided with course notes.

Accreditation:

This course is mapped to the following national unit of competency, AHCLSK215A - Carry out alpaca handling and husbandry operations.
