Name: People in dairy Focus Groups - Improving people productivity on a dairy farm
Description: A course for dairy farmers to determine the key issues for their farm and develop plan for improving productivity, people retention and to become an employer of first choice.
Cost: This course is costed at $305.
Course aims: To engage farmers about the people issues on their farms and create plans to improve outcomes.
Learning outcomes:
  • Develop a farm action plan for people.
  • Improve coordination and direction of staff.
  • Be able to guide staff, facilitate staff discussion and provide constructive evaluation of staff members in meeting performance targets.
  • Develop a people plan and roster.
  • Recruit and induct people.
  • Implement changes to farm practices that improve staff management.
Length: 5 days, with a further requirement to complete project and on the job assessment work to meet requirements of competencies.

    Where am I at with my people?
  • Day 2
    Where do I want to be?
  • Day 3
    Recruitment.
  • Day 4
    Managing people to their potential.
  • Day 5
    Action plans for individual farm.
Resources and method of delivery: Participants receive course notes and manual.

This course is delivered using indoor and out door instruction

Accreditation: This course has been mapped to the national unit of competency RTE5807A Manage Staff.
