  • identify and follow OHS requirements for brushcutter operations
  • environmental requirements are identified and adhered to
  • brushcutter is maintained safely and efficiently
  • assess site and surroundings and plan for operation
  • operate brushcutter safely and effectively

  • assess, plan and safely conduct brush cutting operations
  • select, use and maintain appropriate tools and equipment
  • safely operate and maintain a brushcutter and it componenets
  • assess vegetation for environmental consideration and limitations
  • identify potential risks and hazards

Course program /  structure

  • carry out basic brushcutter maintenance
  • sharpen blades for brushcutter as required
  • assess vegetation for thinning
  • identify and implement a range of cutting techniques to suit various vegetation
  • carry out brushcutter operaions in the field

Resources and method of delivery

This course is delivered in the field and classroom. Participants will receive course notes and the Working with a Forestry Clearing saw manual (Husqvarna publication)

Accreditation

This course is mapped to the national unit of competency FPIFGM2207A - undertake brushcutter operations
