Beef-N-Omics - PROfarm course

Course details

Name: Beef-N-Omics
Description: A course for commercial and stud beef producers to improve the profitability of their breeding enterprise.
Cost:

$600 GST-free. Includes individual copy of the Beef-n-omics software and manual.

This course is registered under the Commonwealth Government's FarmReady program. Eligible primary producers can be reimbursed for the cost of this course. See the FarmReady website for more details.

 

Course aim:

To assist beef producers to improve the productivity and profitability of their breeding enterprise. 

Learning outcomes:
  • Develop monthly inventories of all ages and classes in the beef herd 
  • Identify monthly feed requirements of different classes of stock 
  • Review monthly pasture production
  • Complete detailed gross margin analysis of all components within the breeding herd and trading enterprises
  • Identify the key drivers of a successful beef enterprise 
Length: 3 days

  • Introduction to Beef-N-Omics 
  • Livestock production from pasture 
  • Increasing weaner throughput 
  • Nutrition and feed supply 
  • Increasing turn-off weights
  • Increasing product value
  • Breeding and genetics
  • Alternative beef enterprises
  • Animal health 
Resources and method of delivery:

Participants receive a Beef-N-Omics manual and software program.

This course is delivered 'on farm'.

Accreditation:

This course has been mapped to these national units of competency:

  • RTE4104A - Develop livestock feeding plans
  • RTE4913A - Analyse and interpret production data
