Name: Calculating cost of production for your beef enterprise
Description: A workshop for beef producers to identify the cost of production for their enterprise to improve decision-making and maximise profits.
Cost: This course is costed at $146, but after subsidies provided by the NSW Government, NSW producers pay only $65.
Course aims:

To assist beef producers calculate the cost of production for their business to assess enterprise performance and maximise profit.

Learning outcomes:
  • Develop an understanding of business benchmarking and key performance indicators
  • Identify why cost of production is critical to business performance
  • Calculate cost of production for a business using the MLA cost of production (CoP) calculator
  • Identify opportunities for further skill development
Length: 4 hours
Course program/structure:
  • Cost of production; what is it and how does it relate to profit?
  • Using the MLA CoP calculator
  • Calculating the cost of production for your enterprise
  • Discussion and close
Resources and method of delivery:

Participants receive the MLA More Beef from Pastures CD containing a manual, CoP calculator and tips and tools.

This course is delivered indoors.

Accreditation:

This course is mapped to the national unit of competency RTE4913A - Analyse and interpret production data.

Meat and Livestock Australia was involved in the development of this course.
