Name: Faecal egg counts for worms
Description: A course for those interested in managing internal parasites and worms in their livestock.
Cost: $195 weekdays and $230 weekends at Camden and $245 at Tamworth and Menangle. GST-free. Includes handouts.
Course aim: To improve monitoring of internal parasites and worms in livestock and to develop an understanding of targeted control options.
Learning outcomes:
  • Identify how to take samples and complete faecal egg counts
  • Identify different worms under a microscope
  • Analyse results from samples
  • Identify targeted control options.
Length: 1 day
Course program/structure:
  • Introduction to parasites
  • Basic worm cycles
  • Faecal egg counts, sampling and analysis
  • Practical work with microscopes
  • Control options
  • Questions and answers
Resources and method of delivery: Participants receive course notes.
This course is delivered indoors.
Accreditation: This course is mapped to the national unit of competency, RTE3504A - Collect samples for a rural production or horticulture monitoring program .
