Name: Management of Trunk Disease & Young Vine Decline
Description: This one day course is for primary production management teams and leading hands involved in pruning and disease control of young vines.
Cost:

$180.

Course aim: To understand the impact of trunk disease on vineyard health and assets, whilst implementing control measures and evaluating effectiveness.
Learning outcomes:
  • Understand vine trunk diseases and there effects on vineyards
  • Knowledge of basic vine varieties, structure, function & physiology.
  • Use of Effective prevention, control and eradication techniques.
  • Climatic implications & influence on occurrence,  development and treatment of vine disorders and damage.
  • Safe implementation of control strategies and conduct of pruning activities.
  • Maintain workplace records.

Course program/structure:
  • Incidence and distribution of trunk diseases in NSW.
  • Management of Botryosphaeria
  • Understanding Botryosphaeria in vineyards
  • Managing Botryosphaeria cankers in North American vineyards (what NSW can learn)
  • Healthy plants for vineyard establishment
  • Diseases of planting material or young vines from the soil.
  • Managing Eutypa in vineyards 
Resources and method of delivery: Participants receive course notes and manual.
This course is delivered using indoor an outdoor instruction.
Accreditation: This course has been mapped to the national unit of competency FDFWGG2003A Hand Prune Vines and FDFWGG2017A Recognise disorders and identify pests and diseases.
