Name: Managing climate risk
Description: This subject describes how to develop a climate risk management strategy for an agricultural, horticultural or land management enterprise
Cost: $285
Course aims: The aim of this course is to provide the skills and knowledge to research, analyse and interpret weather, climate and enterprise data. You will be required to prepare a risk management strategy and integrate these at a business management level.
Learning outcomes:
  1. Survey climate and enterprise data
  2. Climate risks and opportunities are identified and analysed
  3. Prepare climate risk management strategies
Length: Approximately 8 weeks. This includes assessment.
Course program/structure:

There are five topics in this subject:

  • Introduction to weather and climate
  • How climate impacts on your farm enterprises
  • Collecting and analysing weather and climate data
  • Identifying climate and weather risks
  • Preparing your farm for climate variability
Resources and method of delivery: Online. All students will be provided with course resources.
Accreditation: This course is mapped to the national unit of competency, AHCAGB501A - Develop climate risk management strategies.
