Name: Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Improvement (MERI) Workshop
Description: A course designed for staff of Catchment Management Authorities, and organisations working in agriculture and natural resource management.

Course aims:

To introduce participants to program logic and other tools to improve monitoring, evaluation and reporting of their projects and programs.

Learning outcomes:
  • Identify the importance of monitoring and evaluation in project/program delivery.
  • Describe program logic.
  • Apply program logic as a planning, management and evaluation tool.
  • Use program logic to identify evaluation and monitoring requirements.
  • Obtain an understanding of evaluation methods.
  • Select the appropriate evaluation method for your project/program.
  • Identify the evidence required to undertake a successful evaluation.
  • Describe the steps required to develop a MERI plan.
Length: 2 days / 12 hours
Course program/structure:

Day One:

  • Overview of MERI
  • Introduction to key tools and concepts
  • Introduction to program logic
  • Group exercises to develop program logic

Day Two:

  • Develop program logic tables
  • Using program logic to identify evaluation and monitoring requirements
  • Overview of evaluation tools
  • Components of a MERI plan
Resources and method of delivery: Participants receive presentation notes and manual.
This course is delivered indoors.
Accreditation: This course has been mapped to the national unit of competency RTD6502A Review management plans and strategies.
